Vintage Carnelian glass bead UV reactive necklace.

Art Deco, circa 1930’s - 1940’s.

This stunning necklace is made from a length of graduating, chunky Carnelian orange coloured glass beads alternating with small white glass round beads.

Finished with a simple barrel clasp.

The orange beads glow a fabulous limey green under UV light suggesting the presence of Uranium.

About Uranium Glass -

Uranium glass / crystals glow a vibrant, bright green under a blacklight / UV light.
Uranium, usually in Oxide Diuranate form was added to a glass mix before melting to result in a beautiful green colour. Naturally Uranium glass in direct sunlight will give of a fluorescent green colour and due to it's glowing properties under UV light Uranium glass has become highly collectible today.
Uranium can be found in green glass, yellow glass and even white and blue glass although the majority is green.
