Long vintage Carnelian glass bead UV reactive necklace.

Art Deco, circa 1930’s - 1940’s.

This stunning necklace is made from a hand knotted length of Carnelian orange coloured glass beads.

This necklace is a continuous length with no clasp so is easy to wear.

The orange beads glow a fabulous striped swirl limey green under UV light due to the presence of Uranium.

A simple yet stunning vintage glass bead necklace with a hidden Uranium glass secret.

About Uranium Glass -

Uranium glass / crystals glow a vibrant, bright green under a blacklight / UV light.
Uranium, usually in Oxide Diuranate form was added to a glass mix before melting to result in a beautiful green colour. Naturally Uranium glass in direct sunlight will give of a fluorescent green colour and due to it's glowing properties under UV light Uranium glass has become highly collectible today.
Uranium can be found in green glass, yellow glass and even white and blue glass although the majority is green.
